Play Ball 2!

Saturday, June 29, 2013
Had a chance to redeem myself.  Better, but still no go.  Thought I would try out the "Auto ISO" setting.  I've decided I DO NOT like it.  All the pictures came out so grainy.  But I still got some nice action shots.  Maybe the next time will be even better!  Let's hope...

For some reason it didn't fire off a shot when his bat connected with the ball.  Grrr!

Meet the Tournament Champs!!

Play Ball!

Friday, June 28, 2013
Ok, first time out with my long lens at a sporting event.  I'm not a sports photographer but I want to capture those action shots of my grandkids during their sports events.  I guess I need a bit more practice.  These two are the only ones that came out somewhat decent but still not EVEN close to what I would have liked.

Back to the drawing board...

A Day in the Life

Wednesday, June 26, 2013
It's inevitable, some days can be pretty mundane.  Today my hubby had a trip so I had the whole day to myself.  I should have done something fun, but what I really needed to do was clean my house.  Since I work best when I'm alone, today was the perfect day.

My least favorite room(s) to clean...  :/

I don't mind doing laundry but I HATE putting it away..

Ugh!  My closet...  this is the most embarrassing and where I struggle the most.  So here's just a little glimpse.  At any time of day my house looks tidy and neat.  All except this one room.  It ends up looking like this every week.  And every week I clean it out and organize it.... well, somewhat anyway.

Wow! I can see the floor!

So, that was my day in a nutshell.  Pretty mundane, I know.  But at least it was productive.  And I was able to keep up with my 'photo a day.'

And, on a side note, I remembered my 8 yr old granddaughter had a softball game.  Her team was undefeated and didn't disappoint!  It was fun watching them win the championship!  Yay!  (I'll post those pictures another day - if they came out.  My battery died and I didn't have any backups with me.  Grrr!)

I also got to see my youngest grandkiddies, even if it was only for a few minutes.  :)

Just a Little Train Ride

Monday, June 24, 2013
My husband has wanted to try the Front Runner to Salt Lake City for some time now.  Well, turns out today was the day.  He's a pilot and to understand a pilot is to understand their way of thinking.  He's always thinking airplanes and airports.  (I guess we are alike in that regard, seeing as I'm absolutely obsessed with photography.)

Anyway, whenever we go on a road trip, if there is a municipal airport around, we will inevitably stop and see it as part of our 'sightseeing.'  Today was no different.  I was happy to go, both to ride the train, and to have an opportunity to shoot.  He wanted to see what, and how long it took, to get to the airport by rail.

 {I also used it as an opportunity to become more comfortable with my big girl camera hanging around my neck all day.  It just occurred to me today that when I actually AM a tourist in some unfamiliar city, I have absolutely no problem carrying it around.  So why am I so afraid in my own city?}

Waiting for the Front Runner at the Ogden Station...

Not a lot of people on board from Ogden but it got busier the further south we went.

(taken with my phone)

Before boarding Trax for the airport, we stopped for a late lunch/early dinner at one of my favorite places - California Pizza Kitchen.

LOVE their bread...

and their Margherita Pizza.

Then it was off to board Trax.

At the airport station we just waited inside until the Trax headed back to the Gateway Station.

And back on board the Front Runner for home.

All in all a good day.  Learned a lot and I've decided I'm going to do it again.  Only next time, I'm taking my daughter and sisters with me and we're going SHOPPING!!  :)

5th Annual Lava Hot Springs Outing!

Tuesday, June 18, 2013
Lots of fun in the sun!  Always a good time with family and friends.

First up.. the boys showing off.

(On a side note... these were all taken with my new Tamron 70-200mm lens  Still need more practice but pretty good for it's first time out.)

Marley's getting more and more comfortable in the water.  Learning how to swim without her life jacket, with some help from mamma.

Poor little bubba wasn't feeling well, so he hung out in the shade...  :(

Teenage boys who are too cool for photos...

Happy Father's Day!

Sunday, June 16, 2013
Wishing all the fathers out there a happy day with family and friends.

After an early breakfast with my dad, mom and sisters, my husband and I went golfing!
After a few drinks with the neighbors last night, we were invited/convinced to go.  My hubby hadn't golfed in 10 years, I hadn't EVER golfed. lol  Needless to say, it was pretty embarrassing for the most part.  Not sure we'll ever do it again as I didn't catch the 'bug.'  But we had a good time none the less!

Maybe in another 10 years...

A Little Pool Party Celebration!

Tuesday, June 11, 2013
I can't believe she's 6!  Her mom decided to have a pool party and let her invite 20 other kiddies!  Two days prior to the party she realized what she'd done and had a little panic attack.  lol  I, along with a few other mothers, were recruited to act as lifeguards.  But it all turned out well.  All but two kids brought their own life jackets and Mel had plenty extras for those who didn't.

It was a big hit.  Yay!

There was lots of fun in the pool...

Some good eats...

Pinata fun...

And gift unwrapping!

Had to capture these two together.  So cute!

And she was just too cute for words.

All in all a VERY good day!
