California - Here we Come..

After the 3 1/2 hr drive from Vegas, we got settled in our hotel.  A cousin of my husband's got us a screaming deal at the Marriot in Riverside.  The rooms were really nice.  And it was centrally located right in Historic Downtown Riverside.  We met up with the rest of the clan and took a stroll thru the Mission Inn District and had lunch at a Tamale Factory.

First Stop - Vegas!

  I shot this in the quiet, early morning, while awaiting my husband's arrival after a midnight flight to Denver and back. 

He was pretty exhausted so I drove for the first short leg.  Then he drove the rest of the way to Vegas where we stopped for the night.

We decided to try out the Paris Resort.  The room was really nice and really reasonable, too.

After settling in (and a much needed nap - especially for my husband) we headed downstairs for dinner at a really nice Italian Restaurant and afterward shared a crepe topped with loads of butter and sugar.  Yummy!!

We're not big gamblers so after a short walk around we ended up calling it a night.  (I have to admit, I'm not that fond of Vegas..  I do love seeing all the fancy casinos and driving down the strip at night when it's all lit up.  But it's just gotten so big and busy, not to mention crowded!  Just getting from the reservation desk to your room is a trek!  The thought of walking from casino to casino...  Not appealing to me AT ALL!  LOL)

Packing

Tomorrow we are heading out on a road trip to CA.  Sadly, it's not purely for pleasure.  My father-in-law passed away and we are heading out for his funeral.

Trying to figure out what to pack.  Always such a chore.  But especially since I haven't been to many funerals let alone one of a family member.  I couldn't decide what to bring....

Adams Canyon Hike

Another beautiful day for a hike.  It's Spring Break so we decided to head up to Adams Canyon Waterfall.  (Sadly, my daughter forgot how to get to it so we didn't see it.  lol)  But it was one heck of a hike.  Fun, but hard.  Maybe next time we'll find it.  :)

 Afterwards, a yummy Kneaders salad and a movie.  Thanks to my beautiful daughter for inviting me to hang out all day with her and the kiddies!

 Then Papa came home and that's all this baby boy wanted.  He loves his Papa! (He was all snuggled up until I pulled out the camera.. then he tried to get off the couch before I could snap the shot.)

Relapse

I finally broke down, got myself dressed and went to the doctor today.   It's going on 6 weeks of not feeling 100%...  Turns out I had bronchitis and it has turned into pleurisy!  Hopefully, this new regimen will get rid of it!  (taken w/my phone)

Old School - Circa 1985

  This past Christmas I purchased a slide/negative/photo converter for my mom.  She had tons of slides and photos that needed converting to digital.  Then it occurred to us...  what would she do with it when she was through?  So, I decided to borrow it for my slides and pictures before she sells it.  

It's so much fun seeing pictures you haven't looked at for over 25+ years!  

This is my daughter and myself at Walt Disney World.  She informed me that my high-waisted pants are back in style.  Too funny!

Ahh, to be that skinny again.... sigh...

 

Love this one of my mom and myself.  During the five years we lived in Biloxi, Mississippi, we went to New Orleans fairly frequently.  Especially when company came down!  Always a good time!

I don't even recall this next picture.  It's pretty awful, techically speaking... out of focus, color is off.  But I LOVE it!  Maybe it's my HUGE glasses, maybe the mood that the quality of the photo gives it.  Whatever it is, I like it!

Spring has truly arrived!
